Lt. Jack Frost from the Westlake Fire Dept. helped us celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday and Read Across America Day by reading Hubert's Hair-Raising Adventure to all of our first grade students. Comfortably clad in pajamas for a full day of stories, the students loved the story about a lion who must have crocodile tears collected for him in order to grow a new mane! Thank you Lt. Frost for sharing your love of reading with our students, and for reading one of your childhood favorites which has now become one of our favorites!Fifth grade students who read at least 15 current Bluebonnet Books celebrated with a luncheon in the library! We are thankful to the parent volunteers who helped make it all happen! At Valley View, we know how far a little imagination and creativity can take us. That's why we were so excited to meet Aaron Becker, author/illustrator of Journey, Quest, and Return. After being introduced by Sawyer and Gabby, Aaron Becker shared some inside stories about the creation of his books. He showed us slides of some of his paintings in progress, and "read" his newest book, Return, to us. Thanks to Book People Bookstore for another great author visit!
