In the library, we celebrated reading with the Bluebonnet books in many ways. We played related games and did some Readers Theatre. Those students who read 15 Bluebonnets celebrated with a picnic lunch and treasure hunt. Finally, those students who read all 20 Bluebonnet books enjoyed a field trip to Book People bookstore and a picnic at Zilker Park!

Congratulations to Kate, from 4th grade, who won the Top Reader in minutes and the Top Fundraiser medals, and to Yashika, from 2nd grade, who won the Top Reader in pages medal! Nearly one fourth of our Valley View Cardinals participated in the Bookspring Read-a-thon, and together they raised enough money to buy more than 2,300 books for kids in Austin. We are so proud of our students' community service and support for literacy in Austin! Reading more than 20,000 minutes and 26,000 pages while helping other kids was an added bonus! Congratulations also go to Mrs. Peterson's 4th grade class, who for the second year in a row won the pizza party for highest class participation! |
